Paul S. Smith, 89, of New Holland, died Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Garden Spot Village. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris (Hall) Smith in 2014.

Born in Concord, MA, he was the son of the late Allison P. and Marguerite (Schwartz) Smith.

Paul served in the U. S. Navy during World War II and in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts.


He was employed by General Foods, Morningstar Paisley, and retired from National Starch and Chemical Corp. He was president of Paul Smith Associates, a consulting firm specializing in starch and food ingredients.

He was a past member of Hawthorne Gospel Church and North Plainfield Baptist Church, and was currently a member or Christian Fellowship Church.


Surviving are two children: Dr. Lorraine (Joel) Bruce, Seneca, SC and Rev. Brian P. (Gina) Smith, Lanham, MD and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers: Robert, Everett, Philip, Richard and Donald.

His funeral will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at 10 a.m.at Christian Fellowship Church, 758 Spruce Rd., New Holland PA 17557 with Pastors Doug Bozung and Fred Raupp officiating. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. A viewing will be held at Garden Spot Village Chapel on Monday from 6 – 8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 9 – 10 a.m. Kindly omit flowers.
