Obituary

Obituary for Timothy Alan McIntosh

Timothy Alan McIntosh, 69, of Philadelphia, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on June 4, 2021, in the Fox Chase Cancer Center, surrounded by his family.
Born in Anchorage, Alaska, he was the son of the late Ernard and Mildred (Bringe) McIntosh.
Tim enjoyed an idyllic childhood growing up in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, where he came to love the outdoors, including camping, hunting, cross-country skiing, and boating. He graduated from Eagle River/Northland Pines High School, enthusiastically serving as student body president and as quarterback of the 1969-70 Championship Football Team. Rejoining his buddies for the induction of the team into the Eagle River Sports Hall of Fame in 2017 brought him great joy. Tim graduated from Marquette University in journalism, after which he returned to Eagle River and worked as vacation editor for the Vilas County News Review, as well as working with high schoolers in Headwaters Christian Youth. Sensing a call to Christian ministry, he entered a Master of Divinity program at Trinity International University, where he also met the love of his life, Deborah Horst Mcintosh, with whom he would share 40 wonderful years of marriage.
Tim served as a missionary for thirty-three years in Lima, Peru, with the Evangelical Free Church (EFCA) and later with Converge Worldwide. His work involved evangelism, church planting, disciple-making, and leadership of the EFCA Latin America area. He went on to graduate from Regent University with a PhD in Organizational Leadership, preparing himself for the need he saw to equip Christian leaders, later shifting his focus to teaching at the Evangelical Seminary of Lima, and eventually becoming a founder of the Latin America Training Network, a Spanish online Masters program, where he taught Christian leadership. He was greatly loved by his students for his dedication, friendship, pastoral care, and servant heart.
In addition to his loving wife, Deborah, Timothy is survived by his children, Joel T. McIntosh, husband of Stacy Brix; Elizabeth A., wife of Tyler Nelson; and Andrea R. McIntosh. Also surviving are four grandchildren and his sisters, Melinda Kraus and Barbara Klopp. He was predeceased by a sister, Carol Prey.
Tim dearly loved his family and sought to instill in them his own vision of being a “lifelong learner.” They fondly remember him as a lover of new adventures, a risk taker, a great storyteller, adaptable to new contexts and situations, persevering, a servant to people in need, gracious, thoughtful, kind, appreciative to a fault, with an infectious smile. He was also an avid sports fan, “bleeding the green and gold” of the Green Bay Packers football team.
A funeral service will be held on June 12, 2021, at 10:30 AM in Brownstown Emmanuel United Methodist Church, 11 N Church St SW, Brownstown, PA 17508, with prior visitation from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM. The service will also be livestreamed at 10:30 at www.groffenkeroth.com. Guests are kindly requested to wear masks while in the church. Interment will be held immediately following the service in the adjourning church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Timothy’s memory to Latin America Training Network at LATN.org/give/.
Groff-High Funeral Home in New Holland, PA is entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Thank you, Sharlene, for these meaningful words and for your prayers. Tim loved the woods so much, I'm sure he would love to know of the trees planted in his memory.
