Obituary for Thelma E. "Tiny" Buch
Thelma E. “Tiny” Buch, 94, formerly of Leola, died Sunday, January 20, 2019 while under the care of Compassus Hospice. Her husband, Leon R. Buch, Jr., preceded her in death in 1976.
Born in Bareville, she was the daughter of the late Ellis and Louella (Myers) Burkhart.
She was a member of St. Stephen Reformed Church, New Holland. Before retiring, she worked in numerous restaurants in the area.
She had a lifelong love of the Philadelphia Phillies, following them since 1945.
Surviving are three children: Perry husband of Patricia Buch, Peggy wife of James Leonard, and Patty Heckel; three grandchildren: Jennifer Logan, Carly Graham, and Dwayne Leonard, a great-granddaughter; and two sisters: Bette Buch and Shirley Talbot as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and a brother: Jeanette Caumauff, Marilyn Burkholder, Erma Catherine Burkhart, and James Kenneth Burkhart.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service on Thursday, January 24, 2019 at 2 p.m. at the Groff-High Funeral Home, 145 W. Main St., New Holland with Rev. Dr. Timothy Witmer officiating. Interment will be in Bareville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the service.
