Obituary

Ruth F McDuffie, 95, passed peacefully at Garden Spot Retirement Village on May 7, 2019.

A longtime resident of New Holland Pa, she was born in Spring Hope, NC. Ruth graduated from King's Business College in Raleigh, NC and worked as a secretary and as an executive secretary at the former New Holland Machine Company for several years. She became a homemaker and mother in 1952 and did volunteer work for the American Cancer Society, Lancaster General Hospital, and the Evangelical United Methodist Church in New Holland Pa, where she taught Sunday school, worked in the pre-school and served on a number of committees and projects through-out her active years.

In her free time, Ruth enjoyed spending time with her family, playing bridge, pinochle and other card games, long and short walks of every description and listening to all kinds of music of which gospel hymns by country artists were her favorite.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, James William McDuffie. She will be missed by her son, Gregory W. McDufffie, husband of Lois, of Pinehurst, NC and Naples, FL; her daughter, Jennifer R. McDuffie, wife of Hal Kuhns, of Durham, NC and Guilford, VT; and her sister Sallie Ann Sykes, wife of Everette, of Reidsville, NC. Ruth will also be remembered by her three grandchildren, Jeffrey McDuffie, Molly McDuffie-Dipman, and Stephen McDuffie; her six great grandchildren, all residing in the Kansas City, KS area; and extended family members and friends around the country.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to a memorial service at Garden Spot Retirement Village Chapel, 433 S Kinzer Ave, New Holland, on June 4, 2019 at 10:30am. Music, gathering and a video remembrance will begin at 10:15am with service to follow.

In her memory, family suggests that contributions be made to the Garden Spot Benevolent Fund, 433 S Kinzer Ave, New Holland, PA 17557. On line condolences may be expressed at www.groffeckenroth.com. Arrangements by Groff-High Funeral Home, New Holland.
