Obituary for Richard D. Bachman

Richard D. Bachman, 74 of Ephrata, PA died December 20, 2022
Born in Reading, Berks County Pennsylvania, He was the son of the late John and Rachel Bachman. A big brother to Bonnie James, Robin Galebach, Scott Bachman and Lee Bachman.
He was married to Dorlisa (Lisa) Rhodes Bachman, currently of Ephrata, Pa, for 46 years. Richard is also survived by his two sons, Gary and Barry, his daughter in law, Lisa and his two grandchildren, Miranda and Landon.

Richard was a gifted craftsman, working with metal, wood, leather and gun repair.
His last place of employment was Superior Walls of New Holland as a welder.

Richard was a Vietnam Veteran and a proud Patriot who’s heart ached for his country.
He often spoke of his frustration with the direction our country was going and how the more recent generations are being misguided and don’t understand the sacrifices that were made for their freedoms.

He was a cowboy at heart. After Vietnam, he worked as a ranch hand in Colorado. While there, his jobs included guiding hunters, butchering and general ranch duties.
He was an active member of SAS (Single Action Shooting) Cowboy Action shoots. He would refer to the action shoots as “Dress up for grown ups”.
He had vast knowledge of guns and gun history, reading many books on the subject.
In his free time he enjoyed shooting, re-loading bullets, watching westerns, cooking and baking cookies for his grand kids.

He was known to spoil his grand kids and daughter-in-law, and was a story teller of the good old days.
Richard would play tricks on his grand kids and teach them famous John Wayne quotes like “A Mans Got To Do What A Mans Got To Do”.

He was a hard working, generous man who loved the simple things in life, like a good pair of boots and a cowboy hat that fit just right.
He could strike up a conversation with anyone. And there was always a little boy or girl in awe of the big cowboy that he could have fun with!

There are so many ways Richard will be missed and not enough space to write them down!
He is with his Heavenly Father, where we know he is humbled and amazed by Gods great love for him!
What a great hope and joy that is in the hearts of his loved ones, who know they will see Richard again!
