Pat L. Greco, 77, of Bird in Hand, passed away peacefully, on November 16, 2022 at Lancaster General Hospital. His youngest son, Chris, and his loving wife, Kathy, were with him. In the days leading up to his passing, he was surrounded by friends and family, both in person, and through phone calls, and passed away knowing he was loved, and will be missed.
Born in Farmington, ME, he was the son of the late Patrick and Pearl (Pillsbury) Greco and known to his family as “Butchie.” He was the loving husband of Kathleen A. (Gough) Greco, whom he married on June 2, 1969 and shared fifty three years of marriage.
After graduating from Eastern Nazarene College, where he met Kathy, he was drafted into the army and served as a Neuropsychiatric Specialist. After an honorable discharge, Pat continued his education and obtained his Doctorate of Education from Indiana University. His entire professional career was dedicated to improving educational opportunities for others, particularly children and adolescents with cognitive or psychiatric impairments. He was employed in the Mental Health Unit in Martinsdale, IN and Johnstown, PA, the former Kolburne School in Massachusetts and the former CREC Polaris School in Connecticut.
In retirement, Pat and Kathy moved to Kenya, where Pat served as the Vice Chancellor of Kenya Highland Evangelical University.
He was a member of St. Stephen Reformed Church and enjoyed traveling internationally with his wife, hiking, biking and kayaking, and most of all, teasing his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife: Kathleen A. Greco, his sons: Ryan, husband of Amanda Lam of California, and Christopher, husband of Monica Greco of Switzerland. Also surviving are his grandchildren: Lucas, Ava May, Ana, and Maxwell (Baby Max) and his siblings: Ronnie Greco, Gail Hastings, and Pam Schanz.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers: Richard Greco and Gary Greco. A funeral service will be held on December 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Stephen Reformed Church, 249 E Main Street, New Holland PA 17557. There will be viewing held for family one hour prior to the time of service. Interment will be held in the adjoining church cemetery.
