Obituary for Leonard E. Galiley

Leonard Galiley, 93, passed away January 2nd, 2023 in New Holland PA as a resident of Garden Spot Village.

Leonard was born May 18th, 1929 and grew up in Danville PA, the son of the late Leon and Lucy (Kooher) Galiley. He graduated from Bloomsburg State College (University) and earned a MBA from Syracuse University.

Recognizing the growth opportunities in telecommunications during the 1950s, Leonard joined the Bell telephone system after earning his MBA. He worked in a variety of forecasting, management and licensing roles for New York Telephone, AT&T and the Bell Labs throughout his career into the 1980s anti-monopoly divestiture of the Bell system.

Leonard Galiley met Esther Finestone at a New Year’s eve party. She introduced him to her father Isaac, who became Leonard’s spiritual mentor. Isaac led him into a deep, abiding lifelong biblical faith in Yeshua (Jesus) as Messiah. Leonard and Esther were subsequently married on June 29, 1957 for 58 years until Esther passed on August 4th, 2015. Esther and Leonard were blessed with three children: Messianic Rabbi Dr. Stephen Galiley of Congregation Beit Shalom, Utica, New York; Sarah and husband, Tzachi Danor, in Ramat Gan Israel; and Susan, wife of Irving Salzman, of Livingston, New Jersey.

Leonard had nine grandchildren: Joshua, Shimon, Yael, Noa, Elisheva, Jacob and Shira (with two deceased, Levi and Yohanna). He was pre-deceased by his sister, Eileen Francis Galiley.
The funeral took place on January 4th, 2023 at the Garden Spot Village Chapelin New Holland, PA, where he was a member. Arrangements handled by Groff - High - Eckenroth Funeral Home, New Holland, PA.
