Obituary

Obituary for Larry Edward Beidel

Larry Edward Beidel, 82, of New Holland, PA, died in The Bob Fryer & Family Inpatient Center at Hospice & Community Care in Mount Joy, PA, on Friday, October 2, 2020, nine months after being diagnosed with bladder cancer. He was the husband of Linda K. Beidel.

Born in Chambersburg, PA, he was the son of the late Leonard and Lilah Beidel of Walnut Bottom, PA. He grew up in Shippensburg, PA, and lived in Parkesburg, PA, Coatesville, PA, Pottsgrove, PA, and for a happy 20 years in Edgecomb, ME, before moving with Linda in 2014 to Garden Spot Village in New Holland.

Mr. Beidel graduated from Shippensburg High School in 1955 and Shippensburg State College in 1959. He pursued graduate studies in several programs at Temple University and attended Temple Law School, all as a young parent, and earned a master’s degree in education from Temple.

Mr. Beidel was a public school business administrator for the Coatesville Area, Norristown Area and Pottsgrove school districts in southeastern Pennsylvania, and for nearly two decades was a financial advisor for Waddell & Reed Financial Services.

An inveterate 76ers, Eagles and Phillies fan, he also played basketball for Shippensburg High school, baseball in the Coatesville Twilight adult league, and golf for much of his adult life.

In addition to his wife of 61 years, he is survived by a daughter, Kelly Beidel Epstein of Downingtown, PA; two sons, Rande Beidel (and his wife, Christine) of Rutherford, NJ, and Tim Beidel of Mount Desert, ME; grandchildren Alix Epstein of Downingtown, PA, Haley Grego (husband Alex) of Morton, PA, Casey Beidel of Rutherford, NJ., and Harriet Edwardsen of South Portland, ME; a sister, Patricia Bubb (and her husband, Michael) of New Holland, PA; and many nieces, nephews and their progeny, whose stories he enjoyed as much as he did those of his own children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brother Robert and sisters Evelyn Reed, June Shuey and Mary Lou Eisenhower.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice & Community Care (https://www.hospiceconnect.org/give), or to a hospice in your local community.
