I began visiting Catherine in 2016. I was new to First Church and so she did not even know who I was. But, she was so gracious and welcomed me openly. She shared many of her memories of First Church and family. She loved me bringing communion to her and although she may have repeated some things, I always enjoyed my visits with her. She was such a sweet lady and was so appreciative of me bringing her communion, of my visits and the times I brought her flowers.
I was very sad when I last saw her in September. We no longer could have a conversation because her hearing was almost gone. I was shouting at the top of my lungs and she still could not hear me. She did not want to receive communion because she could not hear what I was saying. I knew then, I would miss getting to know her.
My prayers are with you as you go through this time of loss.
