Obituary for Joseph L. Harris
Joseph L. Harris, 80, of Terre Hill lost his battle with cancer on August 12, 2019, surrounded by his loved ones. Joe was born on April 4th, 1939 in Eddystone, PA. He was the son of the late Charles F. Harris and Hazel (Urian) Harris. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Charles F. Harris II and his son Joseph ( Jodi) Harris.
Joe is survived by his wife, of 51 years, Helen E. Copper. He is also survived by his 4 children: Charles Harris, Joanne Darrah, Helen L. Dorsheimer married to Mike Dorsheimer, and Erik Harris married to Cathy (Cazille) Harris. His legacy is continued by his 12 grandchildren, his 3 great-grandchildren and his loyal companion, Captain Buddy Harris.
Joe served his country as a Merchant Marine and Navy Veteran. Joe’s first love was the sea. Spending his free time at the shore, sailing, and fishing. Joe’s hard work and dedication as a Boilermaker influenced his way of living; being strong-willed and determined in all that he did.
As we remember Joseph Harris for all that he was, we celebrate a life that was filled with love, joy and a little comedy. Joe wanted his family and friends to join together by raising a glass and celebrate his full life, instead of mourning.
We raise the mast and set sail to celebrate Joe’s life by holding a memorial service at 4pm-8pm on Friday, August 16th, 2019 at the Beaver Lodge in Brubaker park. For any more details, please contact the immediate family. Thank you.
In lieu of flowers the family wishes contributions to be made to the Eckenroth Home for Funerals, PO Box 31, Terre Hill, PA 17581, to assist the family with funeral expenses.
