Obituary for Howard Stewart "Howie" Eckhart

HOWARD STEWART ECKHART, born September 29, 1954, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 9, 2019.

Howie is survived by his loving wife Bonnie who was by his side throughout this most difficult journey of his 10-month battle with Stage 4 Brain Cancer.

He is also survived by a daughter Katie Jessie-Lynn Eckhart, his mother Jessie Jones Eckhart, John & Nancy who were only a phone call away, no matter what time of the day or night the calls along with the tears came and his two very special adopted grandchildren Mahlon and Lydia Beiler who he now is watching over from Heaven. His father Dr. Howard D. Eckhart passed away 4 years earlier.

On Valentines Day Howie would have celebrated his 33rd Wedding Anniversary with his beloved wife Bonnie who he just adored.

Howie had some very taxing and at times some extremely hard days. But he also knew God was with him and would always say, Praise Jesus no matter what the situation.
He was also blessed to have 3 Angels that he said were with him everyday and to the many wonderful and great friends that were always there for him.

Howie loved life and lived it to the fullest, but was the happiest when he was able to get his head in the clouds, as flying was his love.
Running out to the airport for something, always ended up being a 4 or 5 hour quick trip.
He had a wonderful love of the Lancaster Airport having had his Grandfather Jesse P. Jones be the first manager of the airport and having grown up there with many airport kids. Also, having the privilege of learning to fly there, taught by his Grandfather.

He was a member of the Lancaster Aero Club, Harrisburg QB, Lancaster Pirates and Westminster Presbyterian Church.

In memory of Howie who left this life to soon and is greatly missed by his wife and best friend.......
I LOVE YOU! You are my best friend and a wonderful husband and father.
Love and Hugs, Bonnie

He wanted to leave you all with the encouragement to vote in 2020 and make sure you vote for
Donald J. Trump as he will not be here, so he is counting on all of us to vote to continue to make America GREAT!

We would also like to convey our most appreciative thanks to all the wonderful and GREAT Doctors, Nurses, Food Service staff, Housekeepers and Chaplin’s, who through our many times we landed at UPMC Hospital in Lititz, were there for us and became our special family. Their GREAT care and love shown through in each and every day we were there. They truly went the extra mile to make our journey a lot smoother and for that we are forever grateful. THANK YOU!

We also would like to thank all at LGH ReHab, Moravian Manor ReHab and our two very special Angels, Pattie and Adrien at 30th. Street Train Station in Philly, who were always there for us to make our journey a lot lighter.

A special thanks to FOX News which was always on night and day where ever Howie was, as a comfort for him. Bonnie called it his Adult Sesame Street.

There will be a luncheon immediately following the burial at the church and it is Bonnie’s desire that all would partake of the luncheon and in doing so, she would have time to spend with all of you.

And as Howie would always say to his beloved Bonnie “Keep flying the PLANE”!
So although you were called home to heaven too early, my dear Howie, we will all, with your help and God’s help..........
Keep flying the PLANE!
All my LOVE forever!
Bonnie OXOXOX
