George has left an indelible mark on me. He was gracious and friendly, and very encouraging. I am thankful for his faithfulness in the work at the Water Street Mission, and his dedication to the Emmaus work among prisoners. But where I interacted with him the most was at the prayer and Bible study on Wednesday nights. For the 11 years we have fellowshipped at the assembly, he was a stable presence on Wednesday nights. His love for the Lord and for the Word of God, as well as his concern for others was always on display. I am thankful for the influence he had on our family. The fragrance of Christ was displayed in his life, and that fragrance still graces the lives of those of us who were privilege to interact with him.

From Tim Dyer:
George's sisters Elsie and Evie, and their husbands Alan and Peter, met with family members in Sheffield Tasmania this afternoon to share memories of George and recall growing up together, visits to Pennsylvania and George and Jean's visit here. We send our love to Jean and our nieces and nephews on your loss. We remember Earl, Ruth and Winnie also in our prayers.

A Christian gentleman of the highest order. He was a man of quiet dignity, winsome grace, and a vibrant spiritual life. When you were in his presence, you knew he had been with Jesus. Brother George, "you will be missed, because your seat will be empty" (1 Sam 20:18). But oh what joy to be seated where you are now! Love to the family.
