Obituary for Daniel L. Glick

Daniel L. Glick, 85, of Bird-In-Hand, passed away at home on Friday, June 7, 2019.

He was married 63 years to Anna Eleanor Dussinger Glick. Born in Smoketown, he was the son of the late David B. and Barbara Smoker Glick.

As a young man Dan worked at Glick's Plant Farm before embarking on a career in real estate. He sold homes for Warren Weaver Inc. and most recently Kingsway Realty, and also worked in sales and construction for Pulte Homes and Desmond Construction. He was a member of the Forest Hills Mennonite Church and chaired the building committee for the construction of their first church. He was past president of the Lancaster County Association of Realtors, past secretary of the Bird-In-Hand Fire Co. and helped acquire the land to build Camp Deerpark in New York, where he served on the board and volunteered for many years. He was a supervisor for Leacock Township where he served 19 years.

Dan retired at the age of 62 to spend time with his family and serve others. In his own quiet way, he touched the lives of many with his kind deeds. Most of all, he enjoyed travelling to his cabin in Mifflin County with his wife and family, and hunting trips with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Gary D. husband of Ruth A. Glick of Lancaster, and Dean M. husband of Jeanie S. Glick of Bird-In-Hand; a daughter, Teresa J. Glick of Bird-In-Hand; four grandchildren, Michael husband of Megan Glick of Magnolia, DE, Bryan husband of Nicolle Glick of Boalsburg, Zachary Hummel of Bird-In-Hand, and Jamie Glick of Bird-In-Hand; five great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Madison, Adam, Emily and Daniel Glick; and four sisters, Elsie Kauffman of Bird-In-Hand, Mary Herr of Lancaster, Elma Smucker of Lititz, and Lena Lapp of Lititz. He was preceded in death by a stepgrandson, Justin LeFevre and by a brother, Elmer Glick.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 12, at 11:00 A.M. at the Forest Hills Mennonite Church, 100 Quarry Road, Leola, PA with the Rev. Jon Carlson officiating. The family will greet friends at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of the service.
