Obituary for Clara Nell Flood (Pope)

Clara Nell (Pope) Flood, 87, of New Holland, passed away on May 17, 2022 after a short stay at Hospice & Community Care of Mount Joy.
Born in Canal Point, FL, she was the daughter of the late Warren C. and Ruth (Hitchcock) Pope.
She was the loving wife of Edward J. Flood, with whom she married on September 18, 1954 and shared sixty seven loving years of marriage.
Nell was a 1952 graduate of Upper Darby High School, Drexel Hill, PA. She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. She was employed as a Delaware County District Court Clerk for twelve years, until her retirement in 1985. She enjoyed many hand crafts, such as needle work and jewelry making. She also enjoyed reading, but her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family and playing with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Clara loved to laugh and always had a beautiful smile on her face.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Linda wife of Francis Werts of Leola, PA, Marie wife of William Werts of Glenolden, PA, Michael husband of Kimberly Flood of Drexel Hill, PA and Denise wife of Stephen Turnbull of West Chester, PA, a daughter in law Christina (Grow) Flood, Maple Shade, NJ; nineteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, a brother: Rev. Warren Thomas Pope of Melbourne, FL and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by a son, Edward J. Flood Sr., a daughter, Patricia Anne Street, a grandson, Edward James Flood Jr. and two brothers, Charles Ray Pope and Wallace Edward Pope.
A funeral service will be held on June 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 150 Water Street, New Holland PA 17557. There will be a visitation held for one hour prior to the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Clara’s “Nell” memory to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church at the above address or to Hospice and Community Care, 4075 Old Harrisburg Pike, Mount Joy PA 17552.
