Obituary for Carl E. Brendle

North Augusta, SC—SFC Carl E. Brendle, U.S. Army, Ret., 89, entered into rest November 4, 2020. The family will receive friends at Posey Funeral Directors this Friday evening from 5 until 7 pm. We encourage those attending to wear a mask and social distancing will be practiced.

The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 1 until 2 pm at Eckenroth Home for Funerals, Terre Hill, PA with Graveside Services following at 2:30 pm in Bowmansville Union Cemetery, Bowmansville, PA. with Veterans Honors.

SFC Brendle was a native of Bowmansville, PA, a former resident of Augusta GA, having made North Augusta, SC his home for the past 18 years. He retired from the United States Army after 21 years of dedicated service and served during the Korean and Vietnam Era. He received the United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with five campaigns, Vietnam Service Medal with five campaigns, Vietnam Campaign Medal Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palms and Good Conduct Medal. Following his military career, he later retired from PanAm. SFC Brendle was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion Jesse C. Lynch Memorial Post #71 and was a 32 degree and Scottish Rite Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Brendle and Anna Klaassen Brendle; his first wife, Gertrud M. Brendle; two brothers, Larry Brendle and Harold Brendle.

Survivors include his wife, Anne M. Brendle, one son, James Brendle, Augusta, GA; one daughter, Patricia Abell, Winder, GA; three stepdaughters, Marilyn Jones, Irmo, SC, Ginny Covar and Kathy Tuberville both of North Augusta, SC; two grandchildren, Chris Abell and Beth Hancock; three great-grandchildren, Tyler Hancock, Logan Hancock and Ethan Hancock.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Trinity Hospice of Aiken, 690 Medical Park Drive, Suite 200, Aiken, SC 29801.
