Obituary for C. James "Jim" Howe

C. James “Jim” Howe age 76 of Ephrata went home to be with the lord on Sunday, May 19 after a lengthy illness at Keystone Villa-Memory Unit, Ephrata. He was the husband of the late Verna M. (Swartzentruber) Howe who passed away on December 6, 2018. They were married 53 years on July 31st.
Surviving are two daughters Pamela, wife of Shaun Lafferty and Denise, wife of Kevin Chaney. Granddaughters Tonya wife of Phil Patton, Casey Lafferty, Brieana & Madelyn Chaney and 5 Great Grandchildren.
Jim was a Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps receiving an Honorable Discharge on June 28th, 1976. He enjoyed setting up his train display at the home of his mother (the late Hazel M. Howe) and aunt’s (the late Florence, Verna & Mildred Howe) in White Horse, PA every year at Christmas. He also played Santa many years on Christmas Eve. He enjoyed camping with his family and friends. In the later years he enjoyed sitting on the porch at their home on Ridge Ave., Ephrata watching the deer, wild turkeys and other wild life on the mountain. He was a member of Calvary Monument Bible Church where he was involved with the Youth Group.
A graveside service will be held at Calvary Monument Bible Cemetery, 1660 Mine Road, Paradise, PA on Wednesday, May 22 at 11 AM with Pastor Tom Hubbard officiating.
The family will be forever grateful to the staff at the Keystone Villa for the loving care they provided.
